The above artworks are currently in New York from when I had my solo exhibition at A State of [a] Dress, Ora Gallery, 2017.  These artworks are in storage in the NYC as I haven't made it back there since, and looking to find new homes...I will add them all one by one shortly.

From left to right:

Flight of Passage, The Usual Suspects, Madame Butterfly, A Night at the Casino Royal and Suspended

Lurbira, Faunification, The Power of Hope, a tribute to Michelle Obama, and Between Everything and Nothing.

All are original sculptural 3D wall hung artworks, using clothing as my canvas.

I am still uploading my history and clothing artwork series onto this new website.   Sorry that my former site is not still live with all of my history, changing your identity after a divorce takes awhile!

The Power of Hope - A Tribute to Michelle Obama

"Sonia Kiki Jones, formerly Sonia Richter, was inspired to create an artwork after listening to Michelle Obama’s final speech as first lady, 'The Power of Hope'.  Obama's belief in the power of education, in the value of including all cultures, religions and backgrounds, and her awareness about the powerful statements you can make with fashion really resonated with Sonia, and she dove into her studio for a research binge!

Sonia chose a dress to sculpt that Michelle Obama wore to the  Presidential Medal of Freedom Dinner at the White House in 2012  by Michael Kors,  an American designer of immigrant parents.  The artwork is grounded on a foundation of books to represent the importance of education, with national flowers from many countries winding their way up the lower part of the dress.  Entwined amongst the flowers are symbols and charms representative of various cultures, religions and belief systems of the world: the Star of David from Judaism, the Crescent Moon of Islam, a rhinoceros for courage, determination & wisdom, symbols of peace, love and hope; the sunflower for women’s rights, the protea for Africa, the poppy for remembrance and the hope of a peaceful future...and so many more.

Sonia gives us her tribute to Michelle Obama, 'The Power of Hope'.

A Tribute to David Bowie

"Sonia Kiki Jones, formerly Sonia Richter, Her second tribute work is to David Bowie in a sculpture of his Union Jack Coat created by Alexander McQueen. In this work Sonia pays homage to two of her favourite artists at once:  “Bowie with his wild clothing choices, how he continually reinvented himself and his creative expression, and McQueen for his exceptional tailoring skills and creations that were stunning and sexy yet dark and protective.”
